Bargarh, Jan 2: In a significant move to bolster Odisha’s cultural heritage, the state government has announced a substantial increase in financial support for the 2025 edition of the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra. The festival's budget has been raised from ₹10 lakh to an impressive ₹1 crore.
Bargarh Dhanu Yatra, recognized as the world’s largest open-air theater festival, is renowned for its dramatic re-enactments of episodes from the Mahabharata, with a particular emphasis on Lord Krishna’s visit to Mathura.
The additional funding is expected to enhance the scale of the event, improving facilities for both artists and visitors, and further elevating its cultural significance.
This generous financial backing highlights the Odisha government's commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s rich cultural legacy on a broader stage. Local stakeholders have welcomed the move, expressing optimism for a more vibrant and inclusive celebration in 2025.
The increased funding is also expected to attract more tourists, giving a global spotlight to Odisha’s diverse cultural offerings.
