Sundargarh, Mar 12: Bisra Police in Odisha’s Sundargarh district nabbed an interstate criminal following an encounter while he was allegedly planning a robbery in the wee hours of today.
The interstate criminal has been identified as Byasa Lakua and he sustained bullet injuries in the encounter.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of Byasa, who was involved in several cases of extortion, murder, theft, and dacoity, the police tracked down Lakua while he was allegedly planning a robbery.
When the police confronted him, he opened fire at them prompting the cops to retaliate back. During the shootout, he was seriously injured.
Following the shootout, Byasa, who had been on the police radar for a long time, was rescued and rushed to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for treatment.
He is currently undergoing treatment and further investigation into the matter was underway.
