Bhadrak, Apr 24: In a heartbreaking incident, two minor sisters drowned while bathing in a pond at Sankrushna Dihasi village under Kashiā Marine police station in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday.
The deceased sisters have been identified as Krishna Rani (7) and Koel Malik (5), daughters of Basant Mallick.
As per reports, the two girls had gone to a nearby pond this morning along with their grandmother to bathe. After finishing her bath, the grandmother returned home, thinking the children would follow.
However, when the girls didn’t return, their family members started searching for them. Later, both the children were found unconscious in the pond.
They were immediately rescued and rushed to the Basudevpur hospital, where the attending doctors declared them dead.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the bodies before sending them for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
