Bhubaneswar, February 20: Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, took a swipe at the previous BJD government led by former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, accusing its '5T' initiative of announcing the construction of 52 new cyclone shelters without securing adequate funding for the project.
V.K. Pandian, who was the secretary of the '5T' initiative during the previous government, was at the helm of the program.
The remarks came during the Question Hour in the Assembly when senior BJD legislator Pratap Keshari Deb questioned the delay in the construction of cyclone shelters that had been approved by the Revenue Department under the previous government. Deb pointed out that no significant progress had been made in the past nine months.
