Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: Ramesh Chandra Jena, Senior Private Secretary of the Panchayat Raj and Drinking Water Department in Odisha, was arrested today by the Vigilance department in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The investigation revealed that Jena possessed assets amounting to 123% more than his known sources of income. A case has been registered under Sections of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Amendment Act, 2018.
During searches, the following assets in his and his family's name were uncovered:
A triple-storeyed building in Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar, worth approximately ₹1.02 crore.
A double-storeyed building in Kalinga Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
A building in Nirakarpur, Khordha.
Five high-value plots, including four in upscale Bhubaneswar and one in Kanasa, Puri.
Bank deposits of ₹5.50 lakhs.
A Honda Amaze car and three two-wheelers.
Cash, gold, and household articles worth around ₹9 lakhs.
In addition, it was found that Jena had been illegally renting out his official government quarters in Bhubaneswar since June 2021, collecting rent of ₹12,000 per month via UPI transactions.
