Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: Odisha is set to enhance its air connectivity with direct flights linking the state to nine major Indian cities, a move aimed at fostering regional connectivity and driving economic growth. The new services will commence in January 2025.
From 1st January, flights from Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda will connect to Hyderabad, Raipur, Lucknow, and Mumbai. Additionally, beginning 3rd January, Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar will offer direct flights to Indore, Dehradun, Kochi, Jaipur, and Lucknow.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) highlighted the transformative potential of these new routes, which are expected to provide easier travel options for residents and tourists alike.
Enhanced connectivity is also anticipated to strengthen business ties, attract investments, and promote Odisha’s tourism sector.
Speaking on the initiative, an official from the CMO stated, “These new air links will not only make travel more convenient but also act as a catalyst for the state’s economic and developmental aspirations.”
