Cuttack, March 23: While scores of Nigerian youths are rotting in Odisha Jails for fraudulent deals, another Nigerian national was arrested on Sunday for blackmailing and abetting an Odisha woman to committing sucide, over her nude scenes.
The Commissioner Police, Cuttack picked the accused Nigerian man from New Delhi after a frantic manhunt. According to reports, the foreign national had established an online relationship with a Cuttack-based woman. Meanwhile, he treasured some obscene photographs during chatting and blackmailed her.
This way, he extorted lakhs of rupees from the woman over the nude photograps,that the victim was silently complying with out of compulsion. However, the woman committed suicide recently as the fraudster’s demand went beyond his capacity for which her nude photographs were made round on social media.
Getting some clues from the deceased mobile, her family members lodged a complaint with the Cuttack police that lead to the arrest of the conman.
Sharing the success of the Odisha Police, Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeohas stated the modus operandi of the Nigerian fraudster.
The accused will be taken on remand for further investigation which will unearth other victims if any, and the entire network of the frauds, he added.
