Bhubaneswar, March 18: The Odisha government has issued licenses to 1,112 contractors under the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979, enabling the migration of 73,973 laborers from the state to work outside Odisha over the past two years.
In response to a query from Rourkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak, Labour & Employees' State Insurance Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia has informed the state assembly on Tuesday.
Minister says that 1,037 contractors were granted licenses in 2024,, facilitating the migration of 70,142 workers to other states. In addition, 75 contractors were licensed in 2025 (up until February 28), sending 3,831 individuals to work outside Odisha.
