Nabrangpur, Dec 22: The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Turudihi GP under the Raighar block limit in Nabarangpur district for allegedly embezzling funds of three GPs.
The PEO, identified as Surendra Bhatra, was earlier suspended by the district administration over such allegations against him.
According to the vigilance sleuths, the charges involve the misappropriation of approximately 50 lakh rupees from two Panchayats i.e Kachrapara and Parchipara and around Rs 60 lakh from the Turudihi GP.
Based on the complaint of the BDO, the Vigilance initiated an investigation and took the PEO into custody with its findings.
