Paradip Port has been conferred the prestigious No.1 Sagar Anklan certificate for outstanding overall performance in bulk cargo handling in greater than or equal to 5 MMT category in FY 2023-24 by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Minister of MoPSW.
Dy. Chairman, PPA, Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta received the award in Mumbai at the recently held Post Budget Industry Meet to deliberate on transformative impact of Viksit Bharat Budget2025 on India's Maritime Sector. Sagar Ankalan — the Logistics Port Performance Index (LPPI) for FY 2023-24, is a significant step towards enhancing efficiency and global competitiveness in India’s maritime sector. This is a transformative leap towards making India a maritime powerhouse, contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat and a developed India by 2047.
Congratulating Team PPA for the remarkable achievement, Shri P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA said that it will inspire us to bring more laurels in coming times for the overall growth of the country. It may be noted that by February end in current fiscal, PPA is the fastest in the history of Indian Major Ports to clock 136.25 MMT cargo throughput till February end, inspite of huge market challenges like drop in export Iron Ore demand and thermal coal.
The Port is poised to set all time record cargo handling of current fiscal. Various system improvement measures, introduced by the Port during this year, fuelled growth. Coastal Thermal Coal handling constitutes around 30% of total cargo volume handled at the Port and it has shown 4.65% growth. Similarly, containerised cargo volume has grown by 175.58% and Gypsum & flux volume has surged by 2.86% Y-o-Y in the current fiscal. Thus Paradip port is emerging as a coastal shipping hub of the country.
The Port's commitment to operational excellence, coupled with strategic improvements in cargo handling, has positioned it as a key player in catering to the growing needs of the industries.
