Berhampur, Dec 14: Police unearthed 84 illegal liquor production units and seized around 3,500 litres of country-made liquor in Odisha's Ganjam district during raid, an official said on Saturday.
As many as 20 people, including 12 women, were arrested for their alleged involved in illegal liquor manufacturing.
The raids were conducted in seven villages under Badapalli panchayat under Khallikote police limits on Friday.
Police teams led by SP (Ganjam) Suvendu Kumar Patra conducted simultaneous raids at Gundripalli, Marei Nuagon, Nuapalli, Badapalli, Debijhara, Kamarasingi and Chakasinghi villages.
Police have also destroyed around 2 lakh litres of mahua pocha, 13 bags of mahua. Five water pump sets, aluminium pots and hundreds of storage drums along with other distillation equipment, were seized from the spots.
Police also seized two country-made guns, four crowbars and two motorcycles during the raid. Police said the value of the destroyed and seized items could be around Rs 10 lakh.
