Puri, July 6: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo, Pravati Parida led a large-scale cleanliness campaign on Saturday at Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Puri.
A day before the world-renowned Rath Yatra, CM Majhi personally wielded a broom to clear dirt from Bada Danda.
On this occasion, CM said, “As Lord Jagannath prepares to grace Bada Danda tomorrow; welcoming lakhs of devotees for darshan, the state government has launched a cleanliness drive to ensure the area remains pristine for the festival. This initiative seeks to raise awareness about cleanliness among the public. Devotees are encouraged to avoid single-use plastics and refrain from littering plastic on Bada Danda.”
Cabinet ministers, along with numerous BJP MLAs, actively joined the cleanliness campaign stretching from Bada Danda to Sharadhabali near Gundicha Temple. Several voluntary organizations also contributed to the effort.
