Rourkela, Dec 18: At least two people were killed while another two were critically injured after being hit by a goods train at the Kalunga railway crossing in Rourkela on Tuesday night.
Sources said, the accident occurred when four youths were crossing railway tracks on two separate motorbikes, unaware of an approaching goods train. Two of them died at the scene, while the other two were left in critical condition.
Authorities from Brahmani Tarang police and the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived at the location and immediately transported the injured to a nearby private hospital. The bodies of the deceased were sent to a government hospital in Rourkela for post-mortem.
Further investigation is underway.
