Puri, Mar 17: A rare and sacred phenomenon, the ‘Sunya Ganthi,’ has been seen in the Patitapabana of Srimandir. This unique knot, deeply rooted in cultural and spiritual beliefs, forms when the sacred ‘Banas’ (flags) atop the temple collide due to strong wind currents. Weighing between 5 to 10 kg, this knot is considered an extraordinary occurrence.
The ‘Sunya Ganthi’ is not just rare but is also regarded as a powerful blessing. Many believe it brings protection against misfortune and natural calamities. It is often hung near the entrance of houses or in drawing rooms to ward off negative energies. Due to its tightly tangled nature, the knot disentanglement is said to be extremely difficult.
Beyond protection, the ‘Sunya Ganthi’ is believed to bring good fortune and is often given as a sacred gift.
A servitor of Srimandir said, “Mothers place it near their children’s beds for divine safeguarding. It is also widely believed that if an expecting mother drinks water infused with the knot, she will experience a smooth and natural childbirth."
The presence of ‘Sunya Ganthi’ in Srimandir’s Patitapabana holds deep sacred belief. It symbolizes the eternal connection between devotees and the divine. It stands as a testament to faith, protection, and the blessings of the Almighty.
