Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: In an unfortunate incident, a man and his second wife allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in Chandrasekharpur area of the capital city Bhubaneswar today morning.
While the deceased man has been identified as Kumar Jiten (30), a driver by profession, the identity of the woman, who is believed to be his second wife, is yet to be ascertained.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Housing Board Colony area under Chandrasekharpur police limits in the city.
Though the exact reason which prompted the couple to take the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, sources said that a heated exchange of words ensued between the couple on Friday afternoon over some issue and that might have led to the suicide.
The couple had left their room door open before allegedly taking their own lives.
Upon getting the information, Chandrasekharpur police arrived at the scene and brought the bodies down. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
A probe has been initiated into the matter to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragic incident, said the police.
Meanwhile, Jiten’s employer revealed that he had been staying in the house as a caretaker, and the woman was living with him for the past two months. Jiten was already married and had three children.
"Recently, I advised him to return to his family and warned him against the illicit affair. He assured me that he would end the relationship soon," the employer stated.
