Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: Odisha is reeling under heat wave conditions with four places in the state recording temperature above 40 degree Celsius today.
While Sambalpur topped the list of hottest places in Odisha with 42.2 degree Celsius, it was followed by Jharsuguda with 41.8 degree Celsius.
Similarly, Rourkela recorded 40.5 degree Celsius, Hirakud witnessed at 40.2 degree Celsius, Kendujhar recorded 39.1 degree Celsius, Chandbali recorded 39 degree Celsius, and Bhubaneswar recorded 38.6 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning, signaling that parts of Odisha are set to experience extreme heat in the coming days. According to the Midday Weather Bulletin on March 16, heat wave conditions are expected in several areas, with severe heat gripping one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Kalahandi districts.
In addition, an orange warning has been issued for Angul, Sundargarh, Sonepur, and Boudh, where temperatures are likely to soar. Meanwhile, a yellow warning has been sounded for isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Balangir, Gajapati, Cuttack, and Khurda districts, indicating rising temperatures that could cause discomfort.
With the mercury climbing, residents are advised to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
