Sambalpur, Dec 4: At a time death of at least 34 leopards across the state has raised concern for the forest department, a female leopard named ‘Rani’ died of infection in Odisha’s Sambalpur Zoo on Wednesday.
The 7-year-old leopard which was reportedly an expected mother succumbed to a possible uterine infection despite veterinarian interventions.
Confirming the reports, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Hirakud Wildlife Division said that the spread of infection could not be checked. That’s why the big cat died last night.
