Unseasonal rain announced a natural calamity: CM Mohan assures sizeable compensation to farmers

Bhubaneswar, January 3: Unseasonal rain in Odisha that wreaked immense loss of crops, is a natural calamity, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday.
While gracing the Krushi Odisha 2025, a state level farmer empowerment programe here announced sizeable compensation for the affected farmers against their crop loss due to the recent unseasonal showers.
Underlining the natural calamity that almost fractured the backbones of Odisha farmers, the CM said all the farmers who have almost lost at least 33 percent of their yields to the abnormal winter rain, will be duly compensated.
Worth mentioning, with assessment of the immense loss of paddy, oil crops, cash crops and vegetables due to the unseasonal rain across the state, the Odisha government had urged the Centre to declare it a natural disaster.
