Bhubaneswar, July 27: Utkal Hospital in Bhubaneswar marked World Hepatitis Day with a series of events aimed at spreading awareness about viral hepatitis and its impact on global health. The hospital hosted a range of activities, including a quiz, rangoli, and role play competitions, to engage participants and educate them on the importance of hepatitis prevention, testing, and treatment. The winners of these competitions were felicitated by distinguished guests.
World Hepatitis Day, observed annually on July 28, focuses on raising awareness about viral hepatitis, a significant health concern that continues to affect millions worldwide. This year’s theme, “It's time to act,” emphasizes the urgency of taking steps to combat hepatitis and support those affected by the disease. Despite advancements in medical science, hepatitis remains a silent killer, claiming numerous lives each year.
The event at Utkal Hospital featured an array of esteemed guests and dignitaries. Prof. Dr. S. P. Singh, former Professor and Head of the Department of Gastroenterology at SCB Medical College Cuttack, served as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. C. R. Panda, Director of Gastroenterology, was the Guest of Honour.
