Puri, March 23: The body of a young man was discovered floating in the Swetaganga, a sacred tank located west of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Govind Bindhani from Benapur, situated under the Basta police jurisdiction in Balasore.
Locals who noticed the body in the tank immediately alerted the police and Fire Brigade personnel. Responding swiftly, the authorities recovered the body and transported it to the district headquarters hospital for a postmortem examination.
A police officer confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Govind Bindhani's death. While the exact cause remains unclear, efforts are being made to gather more information.
Authorities have also informed the deceased's family about the incident.
