New Delhi, Feb 23: Ahead of the Delhi Assembly session scheduled to convene tomorrow for the first time since the formation of the new BJP government, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence.
Shah congratulated and wished the newly elected Chief Minister on her new responsibility and said her tenure will definitely take Delhi to new heights.
Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, Shah wrote, “Today I congratulated and wished the newly elected Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. @gupta_rekha ji on her new responsibility. Keeping the trust that the people of Delhi have shown in the leadership and welfare policies of Prime Minister Modi ji intact, your tenure as Chief Minister will definitely take Delhi to new heights and fulfil all the hopes and aspirations of the people.”
Notably, the Delhi Assembly session will commence tomorrow with the swearing-in of all the MLAs and the election of the speaker scheduled for the first day (February 24).
The newly formed BJP government will be tabling the Comptroller and Auditor General's report in the house on the second day of the assembly (February 25).
The saffron party had vowed to table the CAG report, which was a significant issue during the election campaigning of the Delhi Assembly polls, in the first assembly session itself.
The CAG report highlighted a major revenue loss of Rs 2,026 crore linked to irregularities in the Delhi government's excise policy. It pointed out deviations from the policy's intended objectives, a lack of transparency in pricing, and violations in the issuance of licenses, none of which were penalized.
