Bhubaneswar, November 25: The all-party meeting chaired by Speaker Surama Padhy was held on Monday in preparation for the winter session of the Odisha Assembly.
Chief Minister and Leader of the House Mohan Charan Majhi, Opposition BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, Congress Legislative Party Leader Ramchandra Kadam, and other party leaders participated in the meeting.
Speaker Padhy emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth and productive session. "We have deliberated extensively to ensure a smooth and productive session of the Assembly. The meeting was successful," she said.
The session, set to begin on November 26, is expected to witness heated debates as the opposition BJD and Congress gear up to corner the state government on issues such as the law-and-order situation and the mango kernel death incident.
Senior BJD leader Pratap Keshari Deb stated that his party would focus on pressing concerns. "As a responsible opposition, we will take up the issues of the people of Odisha," Deb asserted.
The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) is scheduled to meet later in the evening to finalize its strategy for the session.
Meanwhile, security arrangements at the Vidhan Sabha have been reviewed by Director General of Police YB Khurania. Commissionerate Police has implemented three-tier security measures, deploying 30 platoons of police personnel and over 300 officers. Specific zones have also been earmarked for protests and demonstrations.
The second session of the 17th Odisha Assembly will commence on November 26 and continue till December 31.
