Koraput, Nov 25: The colourful kite festival transformed the skies of Deomali into a canvas of vibrant kites during the Deomali Utsav celebrations.
Deomali in Koraput district is Odisha's highest peak at an elevation of 1,672 meters from the minimum sea level of the Eastern Ghats.
Kites as large as 50 meters soared above the valley, creating a vibrant spectacle that delighted attendees and showcased the region’s potential for innovative tourism.
The event was organised as part of the ongoing annual tribal festival Parab-2024.
The event drew visitors from across the region, eager to participate in the festivities and enjoy the scenic landscapes of Deomali. The ‘Valley of Flowers Deomali’ team was recognized for their remarkable work in promoting sustainable agri-tourism. During the event, the team was also felicitated by the guests.
“We are proud to be part of this incredible journey in promoting the natural beauty of Koraput and fostering community-driven tourism,” said Samar Mohaptra, co-founder of Valley of Flowers Deomali.
“Hosting the first-ever professional kite festival at the highest point in Odisha was a joyous expression of our culture, and we are thrilled with the overwhelming response from the local community and visitors,” Mohapatra added.
