Animesh bags gold medal with NMR in Open U-23 Athletics meet

Bhubaneswar: Young sprinting sensation of the country, Animesh Kujur representing Odisha bagged gold medal in the men’s 200m race with a New Meet Record (NMR) on the concluding day of the 4th Indian Open U-23 Athletics Competition 2024 , which concluded at Patna, Bihar on Monday.   

Animesh Kujur clocked 20.65 sec in 200m race and bagged the gold medal. In the process he rewrote an NMR by bettering his own meet record of 20.87 sec set in the year 2023 at Chandigarh. Earlier, In the men’s 100m final of this meet Animesh clocked 10.40 sec and won a gold medal.

The silver and bronze medal was claimed by Nalubothu of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Arasu S of Tamil Nadu with a timing of 21.29 and 21.52 sec respectively.

Another Odisha athlete Laxmipriya Kisan won a gold medal in the Women’s 800m run with a timing of 2:08.70, while Amandeep Kaur of Punjab and Priscilla Daniel of Kerala clocked 2:09.33 and 2:11.78 respectively.
