New Delhi, Nov 13: Renowned Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh, one of the highest-paid and most popular actresses in the industry, has reportedly received an extortion call demanding Rs 50 lakh.
Shockingly, the caller also threatened to kill her if the money is not paid within two days.
According to reports, the caller warned of dire consequences if the actress failed to meet the demand by the deadline.
Akshara Singh, who resides in Danapur, Bihar, filed a formal complaint with the Danapur police station, naming the unknown individuals behind the threat. In her complaint, she mentioned that the caller not only demanded extortion money but also verbally abused her during the conversation.
Police officials confirmed that Akshara received two separate calls from different numbers late Monday night. The callers demanded Rs 50 lakh and threatened to kill her if she did not comply with the demand.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and efforts are underway to trace the phone numbers of the perpetrators. However, for security reasons, the details of the threat callers’ numbers have not been disclosed yet.
Akshara Singh is a highly regarded actress in Bhojpuri cinema, having made her acting debut in 2010 with the film Satyamev Jayate alongside Ravi Kishan.
She has since worked with major stars such as Pawan Singh and Khesari Lal Yadav and is known for her roles in both Bhojpuri films and Hindi TV serials like Kala Tikka and Service Wali Bahu. Additionally, she has appeared in period dramas such as Suryaputra Karna and Porus.
Apart from her successful acting career, Akshara Singh has also ventured into politics. In November 2023, she joined Prashant Kishor's Jaan Suraaj campaign, fueling speculation about a possible Lok Sabha election bid. However, she has since focused on campaigning activities rather than contesting elections. With over 6.5 million followers on Instagram, Akshara continues to maintain a significant presence in both the entertainment and political spheres.
