BJP govt in Odisha borrowed over Rs 21,000 cr loan in last nine months: CM Mohan Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed in the Assembly that the BJP government in the state has borrowed over Rs 21,000 crore as loan from various sources in the last nine months.

CM Majhi said that the state government has borrowed Rs 21,177 crore as loan from various sources from June last year to the end of February this year adding that Rs 9,000 crore has raised from open market and Rs 7,149.56 crore from the Centre.

Similarly, the government borrowed Rs 2,261.16 crore from NABARD, Rs 2,750 crore from OMBADC, Rs 2,370 crore from CAMPA, and Rs 2,352.73 crore from the Provident Fund.

CM Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said the state government has used the borrowed money for development projects in areas like irrigation, energy, roads, disaster management, and urban infrastructure.

He also added that the BJP government has repaid Rs 14,970 crore in loans over the last nine months.
