New Delhi, February 19: Rekha Gupta will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi, while Parvesh Verma will be Deputy CM, resolved after BJP’s Legislature party meeting on Wednesday.
Rekha Gupta, who will be the lone woman chief minister among the states being currently ruled by the BJP, won the Delhi polls from Shalimar Bagh assembly constituency while Parvesh Verma came up beating former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi assembly seat.
With the CM's name being finalised a grand oath ceremony is scheduled on Thursday at the Ramlila Maidan. The ceremony is likely to be attended by top BJP leaders, including chief ministers from the party-ruled states, and many celebrities.
Worth mentioning, the saffron party ended the decade-long rule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by winning 48 seats in the 70-member House. The Aam Aadmi Party managed to win only 22 seats and lost key seats including Arvind Kejriwal's New Delhi constituency and Manish Sisodia's Jangpura AC.
