Puri, Nov 5: The East Coast Railway on Tuesday initiated a probe after a break-hole was found on the glass window in the New Delhi-Puri Nandan Kanan Express, suspecting it a gun shot.
The break-hole was reportedly spotted in the guard coach while the train was passing the Charampa Station in Odisha’s Bhadrak in the morning.
According to reports, the Nandan Kanan Express(12816) was running between the Bhadrak and Baudapur Sections in the morning. Meanwhile, the coach guard heard some cracks all of a sudden. Later, he spotted some break-holes on the glass window and reported the coach control officials in this connection.
Acting on it, station officials along with GRP, RPF and police rushed to the spot to take stock of the matter. The security personnel initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
The GRP officials at Puri also conducted a detailed examination of the train and inspected the affected guard coach after it arrived at the Puri station.
According to the railway authorities, a hole was spotted in the window of the guard coach. Only after a detailed investigation, it can be ascertained whether the break-hole was due to a bullet shot or a stone pelting.
The affected coach has been duly sealed for essential forensic, ballistic and other examinations, the authorites added.
