New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, December 3: The Central government has sanctioned a substantial sum of Rs 73,723 crore for the advancement of railway infrastructure in Odisha.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the approval and shared the details on social media.
Among the key developments is the approval for the establishment of the Rayagada railway division, with a tender worth Rs 107 crore issued for constructing the divisional office. This will lead to the creation of three railway divisions under the East Coast Railway zone. In addition, the Amrut Station Scheme will redevelop 59 railway stations across the state.
In the third term of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the Cabinet also approved eight new railway projects totaling Rs 19,289 crore. The approved projects includes- Gunupur-Therubali New Railway Line, Junagarh Road-Nabarangpur New Railway Line, Malkangiri-Pandurangapuram via Bhadrachalam New Railway Line Badampahad-Kendujhargarh New Railway Line Bangiriposhi-Gorumahisani New Railway Line, Budamara-Chakulia New Railway Line Sardega-Bhalumuda New Doubling Railway Line , Bargarh Road-Nuapada Road New Railway Line,
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also held discussions with Odisha MPs, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, to further progress on these initiatives.
