Cyclone Dana: Colleges, universities to remain closed in 14 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: Colleges and universities will remain closed in 14 districts of Odisha in view of an impending cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal.

The colleges and universities will remain closed from October 23 to October 25 in 14 districts as a precautionary measure, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Deoranjan Kumar Singh in a letter to the Higher Education department secretary. 

According to the Indian Meterological Department (IMD),cyclone Dana would cross the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during the night of October 24 and early morning of October 25.

Under its impact, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Khurdha, Nayagarh, and Cuttack districts are likely to be affected with wind action as well as heavy rainfall, the SRC said.

The colleges and universities will remain closed in the districts.
