The deep depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm, with further intensification expected as it moves towards the northwest Bay of Bengal. By the morning of October 24, the storm is predicted to escalate into a severe cyclonic storm with winds reaching 100-110 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h. It is projected to cross the coasts of north Odisha and West Bengal between Puri and Sagar Island overnight from October 24 to 25.
In anticipation of the cyclone's landfall, the Odisha government has mobilized 288 rescue teams across 13 districts, comprising 19 NDRF teams, 51 ODRAF teams, 178 Fire Services teams, and 40 additional Fire Services teams. To bolster these efforts, five NDRF teams from Punjab have also arrived in Odisha.
