Bhubaneswar, March 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted severe heat wave conditions across several districts in Odisha from March 14 to 18, prompting the issuance of a yellow warning. Citizens are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions due to the extreme temperatures.
According to the IMD, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are expected in districts such as Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj. Heat wave conditions are also likely to affect Sundargarh, Boudh, Bolangir, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Kalahandi, and Gajapati.
Additionally, warm nights are predicted for Sundargarh, Boudh, Bolangir, and Malkangiri, while hot and humid conditions are expected in coastal areas like Khurda, Puri, and Jajpur.
The IMD has issued specific warnings for each day:
- March 15: Severe heat wave conditions in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj.
- March 16: Heat wave conditions in Sundargarh, Boudh, and Bolangir, with warm nights in Bolangir, Boudh, and Sundargarh.
- March 17: Heat wave conditions in Boudh and Sonepur, and warm nights in both districts.
- March 18: Heat wave conditions in Boudh and Sambalpur, along with hot and humid weather in coastal districts.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and staying indoors during peak heat hours to ensure safety during the heat wave.
