Bhubaneswar: Rain-bearing flaring cloud rays of Cyclone Dana occupied the skyline of Kendrapada district by around 3PM. The light outer sheath of Cyclone Dana clouds is clouding the skyline of the twin city (View the main image). Rain seems knocking at the twin city. As the storm approaches, here is a detailed timeline of rain in the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

BHUBANESWAR: The capital city and temple town of Odisha will come under the spell of heavy rain triggered by the cyclonic system Cyclone Dana. When to expect rain over the city, here is the time line. As per IMD, the temple town may record heavy rain in the range of 17cm due to Cyclone Dana.
- Light drizzle may start anytime after 6:30 pm evening.
- Rain may turn heavier around 8 pm.
- Heavy rain around 9-9:30pm.
- Rain will slow-down a bit thereafter.
- Very heavy rain post midnight, at around 3 am on Oct 23.
- Spells of heavy rain on the morning hours on Oct 24.
- Oct 24 would see nearly 2cm rainfall.
- Oct 25 – the D day – when Cyclone Dana will make landfall, Bhubaneswar will be receiving heaviest of rains.
- The IMD forecast shows rains starting from the midnight of October 24, and is predicted to continue uninterruptedly.
- Nearly 2 cm rain by early morning of Oct 25.
- Around 5 cm rainfall from late morning to evening hrs on Oct 25.
- Rain may continue on Oct 26 morning hours.
- Bhubaneswar will be recording some rainfall on Oct 27, 48 hours after landfall, as the system moves to south.
CUTTACK: Be it IMD forecast or ECMWF, the silver city of Odisha is going to witness a battering rain by Cyclone Dana. The IMD has made a forecast of around 15cm rain lashing the silver city on the day of landfall by Cyclone Dana.
- Light rain may take place in Cuttack on Oct 23 evening hours.
- Heavy rain likely in early morning hours (around 3 am) on Oct 24.
- Cloudy skyline of the silver city on October 24 with some drizzles at times.
- Heavy rain likely around 9:30 am on Oct 24.
- The city may again witness some heavy rainfall during the noon hours on Oct 24.
- Some good spells in night and evening hours on Oct 24
- On the D-day, Oct 25, Cuttack will witness heavy downpour.
- From midnight of Oct 24 to morning hours of Oct 25, the city may record a whopping 3 cm rainfall
- The City may record around 20mm rainfall during the landfall time of 8:30 –9:30 am.
- Rain in the city will decline post the landfall of Cyclone Dana.
- But the city may witness 10-12 mm rain of Oct 26 and 27.
