Daspalla, Ap 18: The Lankapodi Jatra of Daspalla, continues to captivate hearts as it marks its 224th year.

Celebrated with incredible fervour, this iconic event is a living symbol of the state's deep-rooted spiritual devotion and vibrant folk culture.

Known as Mahavira Kshetra, Daspalla holds a sacred connection with Lord Mahavira, and every year, this 18-day-long festival brings the Ramayana to life through a spectacular re-enactment.

From riveting performances to stirring music and vibrant displays of faith, the Lankapodi Jatra is a unique cultural phenomenon.

The grand finale, Ravanapodi, is set to take place on April 22nd, drawing thousands of spectators and devotees alike. The most awaited segment is the majestic evening procession of King Dasharatha, held before the revered Shri Mahavir Ji temple.

This is followed by a colourful courtly dance and an enthralling showcase of folk music, turning the town into a lively theatre of mythological grandeur.

What makes this year’s celebration even more special is the implementation of advanced safety measures to ensure a smooth and secure experience for all attendees. With the event attracting people from across Odisha and beyond, organisers are keen to uphold both tradition and public safety.

The Lankapodi Jatra not only serves as a testament to Odisha’s enduring cultural legacy but also reaffirms the spiritual.
