New Delhi, February 20: After the inaugural cabinet meeting, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the distribution of portfolios among the newly appointed ministers. The ministers, who were elected in the recent Delhi assembly elections, took their oaths on Thursday morning.
As the Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta will oversee several important departments, including General Administration, Services, Finance, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Land and Building, Information and Public Relations, Vigilance, Administrative Reforms, Planning, and any other ministries not assigned to others. Speaking at a press conference, Gupta affirmed, "These departments will remain with me: General Administration, Services, Finance, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Land and Building, Information and Public Relations, Vigilance, Administrative Reforms, Planning, and any other departments that are not assigned."
In the cabinet's first meeting, Gupta outlined two major decisions: the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi with an additional Rs 5 lakh coverage and the tabling of 14 CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) reports during the first session of the Assembly.
BJP MLA Pravesh Verma has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Public Works Department (PWD), Legislative Affairs, Irrigation and Flood Control, Water, and overseeing Gurdwara elections. Verma commented, "The Ayushman Bharat scheme will be implemented in Delhi, and the CAG reports will be tabled shortly."
Minister Ashish Sood will manage the Home, Power, Urban Development, Education, Higher Education, and Technical Education portfolios.
Manjinder Singh Sira, BJP MLA from Rajouri Garden, has been assigned the Food and Supplies, Forest and Environment, and Industries departments.
Ravinder Singh (Indraj) will take on the responsibilities of Social Welfare, SC and ST Welfare, Cooperative, and Elections departments.
Kapil Mishra will handle the Law and Justice, Labour, Employment, Art and Culture, Language, and Tourism ministries.
Pankaj Kumar Singh will oversee the Health and Family Welfare, Transport, and Information Technology departments.
Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her cabinet ministers participated in an evening Aarti by the Yamuna River, reaffirming their commitment to making the Yamuna clean, which will be a top priority for the Delhi government.
