Los Angeles, July 2: American rapper Eminem announced that his much-awaited album 'The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace)' will debut on July 12.
Eminem released a promo video for his album on social media, featuring a woman giving birth to a baby. The scene takes a dark turn as the mother holds the child, which opens its black eyes, cracks a sinister smile, and grows horns, according to Variety.
The release date announcement coincides with the upcoming drop of the project's second single, "Tobey," featuring Big Sean and Babytron. As reported by Variety, the song, set to release on Tuesday, will be accompanied by a video directed by Cole Bennett and is likely named after Tobey Maguire, as hinted by a lyric in the song’s teaser.
Eminem has already released the first single from the project, "Houdini," which is a nod to his 2002 hit "Without Me." The song, which includes references to Megan Thee Stallion and the Steve Miller Band, debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Eminem first announced "The Death of Slim Shady" during the NFL Draft in April, unveiling a "Detroit Murder Files" crime show teaser. He later published an obituary in the Detroit Free Press, bidding farewell to Slim Shady, his long-time alter ego featured in his music and videos.
In addition to the two singles, "The Death of Slim Shady" is expected to include production from Dr. Dre, who confirmed his contribution to the project.
