Burla, Nov 27: The local administration has formed four teams to trace the woman who is accused of stealing an infant from VIMSAR, Burla in Odisha's Sambalpur district yesterday.
Police in the neighbouring districts have also been placed on high alert. The accused woman's photograph has been shared with police. Moreover, the family member of the newborn has lodged a complaint with the Burla police.
Sources said, Sita Das, the mother of the newborn who hails from Chhattisgarh, delivered a baby boy on November 25 morning. While in the maternity ward, an unidentified woman struck up a friendship with Sita's sister-in-law, Madhu. Claiming to be from Sambalpur, she earned their trust by helping with various hospital facilities, such as directing them to the canteen and restroom. On November 26, while the family was eating, the woman offered to hold the baby. Despite the presence of the family members she managed to flee from the hospital along with the child.
CCTV installed in the premises captured the footage of the woman leaving the hospital with the baby in her arms.
