Cuttack, February 20: The Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Cuttack was injured in a scuffle between two political groups on Thursday.
The incident took place in front of the Mahanga Block Office in the Cuttack district in the evening following some supporters of a MLA and the Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members faced off during an agitation.
Sources said that the PRI members including the Chairperson of the Mahanga Block were staging an agitation with some of their demand in front of the Panchayat Samiti office. Meanwhile,the scuffle reportedly broke out after the supporters of the MLA opposed the agitation and indulged in a hot-exchage with the protestors.
On being informed, the police force led by the SDPO rushed to the spot to prevent the situation. However, the SDPO sustained injuries, being hit by some of the miscreants.
