RAINFALL

Bhubaneswar, December 19: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall across Odisha until December 21, with heavy downpours expected in specific districts on December 20.

A yellow warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Kendrapara districts, where heavy rainfall is likely to occur.

The IMD's Bhubaneswar regional centre has advised residents to take precautions and avoid venturing outdoors during intense rain.

Rain-bearing clouds are expected to cover the state, resulting in rain in most areas. Alongside, the minimum temperature is predicted to fall by 3-4 degrees Celsius by December 21.

The night temperature has recently risen by 2-3 degrees Celsius, with a noticeable increase reported in several regions:

Rourkela: From 5.7°C to 7.2°C

Jharsuguda: From 8.2°C to 8.6°C

Phulbani: From 7.5°C to 10°C

Keonjhar: From 8.9°C to 11.2°C

Angul: From 9°C to 11°C

The rise in night temperatures has eased cold wave conditions, but a sharp drop is anticipated after the rain subsides. Residents are advised to stay updated on the weather and follow safety measures during this period.
