Bhubaneswar, Jan 26: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for dense fog affecting at least 15 districts across Odisha. Additionally, the IMD predicts that the night temperature in Bhubaneswar, the state capital, is expected to rise to 23°C over the next two days.

The IMD has forecast dense to very dense fog in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, and Jagatsinghpur districts until the morning of January 27. Following that, dense fog is likely to persist in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal until January 28 morning.

Shallow to moderate fog is expected in the same set of districts until January 27 morning, while it will also impact Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Boudh in the following 24 hours.

The IMD has warned that visibility in these affected districts could drop below 50 meters, and in some areas, it could be completely zero. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution while traveling. The dense fog is being caused by an influx of moisture-laden air into the region.

The weather across the state is expected to remain generally dry for the next week, with no significant temperature changes. However, a slight increase in daytime temperatures is expected in some districts. In the last 24 hours, dense fog was observed in Balasore, Cuttack, Paradip, Gopalpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Chhatrapur, Dhenkanal, and Khordha, with visibility dropping below 50 meters in these areas. Additionally, G Udayagiri recorded a minimum temperature of 8.4°C.
