Bhubaneswar: Both the teams India and England arrived here at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Friday for the second Day and Night ODI match schedule to be held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. The players got a rousing welcome by the cricket fans of the city and Odisha Cricket Association officials at the airport and also in front of the hotel gate.
After the first match win at Nagpur, the spirited Indian team will aim to continue their momentum and seal the three-match ODI series by winning the Barabati battle. On the other hand, the visitors will try their best to make a comeback into the series by winning the second match.
India and England have faced each other as many as five times in ODIs at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. While England have won three of those matches, India have won twice.
The Barabati Stadium has hosted 21 ODI matches as of February 2025. India has played 19 of these matches, winning 12 and losing 7. The highest team total at this venue is 381/6 by India against England in 2017, while the lowest completed innings is 85 all out by South Africa against India in 1993.
“Almost after a gap of five years the Barabati Stadium is going to host a One-Day International match. We made a beautiful and safe arrangement for the spectators to watch the ODI match on Sunday. We request the spectators to maintain discipline and follow the security guidelines for the success of the high voltage match. Inside the stadium food, water and other basic amenities will be provided,” said Odisha Cricket Association President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty.
Talking about the Sunday’s match Mohanty expressed “Weather at Barabati Stadium will be pleasant on the match day. The dew factor will not affect so much in the night, we expect a high scoring match at Barabati”
