At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India kicked off their five-match T20I series against England with a resounding victory. Chasing a target of 133, India cruised to a seven-wicket win with a remarkable 43 balls to spare.

Abhishek Sharma led the Indian charge, smashing a blistering half-century off just 20 balls. Despite Jofra Archer's efforts, claiming the wickets of Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav in the same over, India's batting firepower proved too strong for England.

Earlier in the match, England, put in to bat first, managed a modest total of 132 in their allotted 20 overs. Jos Buttler provided a lone spark with a well-crafted half-century off 34 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled against India's disciplined bowling attack.

Varun Chakravarthy played a key role in stifling England's momentum, dismissing Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone in the same over. Arshdeep Singh also made an early impact, striking in his first over to equal Yuzvendra Chahal's record for most wickets for India in T20Is.
