Bhadrak, Feb 23: In an incident which is not less than the plot of any crime thriller movie, police in Odisha's Bhadrak district carried out an undercover operation and busted a sex racket operating at a hotel.
According to reports, a police officer, with an aim to bust the sex racket, impersonated as a customer and visited the hotel in Bhadrak town. He then negotiated a deal wherein it was finalized that the illicit service will be provided at an exchange of Rs 2,000.
The officer then rented a room with a sex worker. After few moments following the signals of the officer, police team stormed into the room and caught the sex worker. Later, both the sex worker and the hotel’s caretaker were detained for further questioning in this connection.
Interestingly, the crackdown continued thereafter with police extending their raids to several other spots including hotels in Charampa and Asura. During a raid at a tailoring shop near Charampa, the cops rescued a sex worker and arrested a young man from a public restroom. Furthermore, another sex worker was also rescued from a hotel.
As of now, police have rescued three sex workers and arrested two youths in this connection.
A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are underway to ascertain other details, said the police.
