Srinagar, October 31: In a heartwarming gesture, Indian Army jawans celebrated Diwali with locals near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir's Baramulla district.
The celebrations featured traditional diya lighting, gift exchanges, and the sharing of sweets, creating a vibrant Diwali atmosphere along the sensitive border area.
Villagers expressed their appreciation, highlighting the army's presence during not only Diwali but also Eid and other local festivities. "We are border people, and whenever we face any problem, the Indian Army stands with us," one villager shared.
Diwali Celebrations at Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar
In Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the iconic Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple is also marking Diwali in grand fashion. The temple has been illuminated with 10,000 diyas, while visitors are treated to a glow garden showcasing the festival’s spirit. This year’s celebration includes the installation of a 55-foot idol of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, crafted from panchdhatu. The idol's Pranpratishtha (consecration) ceremony is scheduled for November 11, continuing a 32-year Diwali tradition at the temple.
Jayesh Mandanka, a temple swayamsevak, shared, "Every Diwali, Akshardham Temple is decorated with thousands of diyas. This tradition will continue till November 8, adding to the festival's beauty from 6 pm to 7:45 pm each evening."
