New Delhi, December 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India as the mother of democracy, calling the 75-year journey of the nation's Constitution a remarkable chapter in the history of the world's largest and greatest democracy.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the discussion on the "Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India," PM Modi emphasized the enduring vision of the Constitution's framers as the foundation of the country's progress over the decades.
"The 75-year journey of India's Constitution is a tribute to the vision of its makers, their contributions, and the unwavering resolve of our nation to move forward. This milestone is an occasion to celebrate the enduring significance of our Constitution and its provisions," said the Prime Minister.
Expressing gratitude to Members of Parliament for their active participation in the celebrations, PM Modi remarked, "I am deeply grateful to all honorable members who have come together to express their sentiments on this momentous occasion."
He further highlighted the extraordinary achievement of sustaining a thriving democracy for 75 years, overcoming challenges predicted during India's independence. "India's Constitution has been a guiding light, bringing us to this proud moment. I bow to the drafters of the Constitution and the millions of citizens who embraced and lived this new system. The people of India deserve the highest praise for this accomplishment," he stated.
The Prime Minister also underlined the global significance of this milestone, calling it a moment of pride for democracy-loving individuals worldwide.
The two-day debate on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution began in the Lok Sabha on Friday, bringing together leaders and representatives to reflect on the historic journey and the future of India’s democratic governance.
