Ranchi, March 24: The Jharkhand government will conduct a caste-based survey in the upcoming financial year, announced Transport, Revenue, and Land Reforms Minister Deepak Birua. Addressing the state assembly on Monday, Birua confirmed that the Personnel Department has been appointed as the nodal agency for the survey.
"The government is determined to carry out a caste-based survey in the state. The decision for this was taken back in February last year. We are making all necessary preparations to implement it in the next financial year," Birua stated in response to a query from Congress MLA Pradip Yadav.
The survey aims to collect detailed caste-related data, which is expected to play a key role in formulating future policies and welfare schemes in Jharkhand.
