Cuttack, Aug 8: Justice Subhasis Talapatra on Tuesday took oath as the 33rd Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court consequent upon the superannuation of its former Chief Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar.
Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal administered the oath of office to the new chief justice in a ceremony on the Orissa High Court premises.
Justice Talapatra was born on October 4, 1961 at Udaipur, Tripura. He was enrolled with the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on September 12, 1990.
He was designated as Senior Advocate on December 21, 2004.
The Supreme Court collegium has recommended Justice Subhasis Talapatra as next Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.
He was elevated as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 15 November 2011 and on establishment of a separate High Court in Tripura in 2013, he opted for the High Court of Tripura as his parent High Court.
He has been functioning, on transfer, in the High Court of Orissa since June 10, 2022.
