Kandhamal, Apr 18: In a shocking incident, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Gochhapada in Phiringia Tehsil of Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
The incident, which took place on Wednesday, has been reported from Pahiraju Panchayat under Gochhapada police limits in the district.
As per police reports, the accused, identified as Ananta Kudei, came to the girl’s house while she was alone. He offered her biscuits and took her away on his motorcycle.
When the girl did not return home for a long time, her family began searching for her. Shockingly, they found Ananta sexually assaulting the girl near a canal close to the village. Upon seeing the family, the accused ran away from the spot.
The victim’s mother immediately lodged a complaint at the Gochhapada police station.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Ananta. He was later produced in court.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
