Konark Festival called off for Jawad

Konark, Dec 3: Konark Festival has been postponed on Friday ahead of the cyclonic storm Jawad. Acting on the directives of the State Relief Commission (SRC), the Department of Culture has stopped the Internationally famed festival before the valediction. According to the notifications of the state government, cyclone Jawad is going to touch the Odisha coast with heavy to very heavy downpours followed by high wind. Anticipating disastrous effects, the dance festival and the sand art festival have been stopped before it is concluded. In view of the reports of India Meteorological Department and advisories issued BY Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha on Deep Depression over southeast Bay of Bengal turning into Cyclonic Storm Jawad and reaching the coasts of Odisha. In the public interest, the Konark Festival 2021 and International Sand Art Festival 2021 being held on Chandrabhaga beach in Konark, Puri is being called off with immediate effect, read the notification.
