Bhubaneswar, January 23: A MoBus driver was suspended by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) following a series of accidents caused by the operator on Thursday.
The CRUT also initiated a thorough probe into the matter with conducting alcohol tests of the two drivers who were found responsible for the collision of two MoBuses, one e-Bus and a diesel bus at Ashok Nagar in Bhubaneswar today.
At least four people were injured, and several vehicles were damaged in a series of accidents involving a Mo Bus near Raj Mahal Square in Bhubaneswar.
Following such an incident, tension sparked among locals as this is not the first time of causing accidents.
As per the witnesses, the accidents occurred at around 8 am on Thursday when an electric Mo Bus traveling from Master Canteen to Raj Mahal Square suddenly applied its brakes. Following which a non-AC Route 26 Mo Bus, which was trailing behind, collided with the electric bus.
Thereafter, three cars directly behind the Route 26 Mo Bus collided in a chain, leaving at least four individuals injured.
Some passengers from both Mo Buses and the cars were also hurt.
Local residents also staged a protest demanding strict action against the bus driver.
Police reached the spot, pacify the situation, and cleared the traffic after about 30 minutes of chaos.
